Carbon Reduction Plan

Publication date: 01/04/24

Little Grey Cells Ltd is committed to creating a sustainable future and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030. We commit to working towards this in a transparent, measurable, credible, and impactful way.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Scope 1, 2 and 3:

Scope 1:  These “direct emissions” are from sources that are owned/controlled by Our Company.

Scope 2: These are the emissions released into the atmosphere from the use of purchased energy. These are called “indirect emissions” because the actual emissions are generated at another facility such as a power station.

Scope 3: These emissions include all other indirect emissions that occur across the value chain and are outside of Our Company’s direct control.

Baseline Year Emissions (tCO2e): 2023

Scope 1: 1.4

Scope 2: 0.2

Scope 3: 1.3

Total Emissions: 2.7

Current Emissions (tCO2e)

Reporting Year: 2024

Scope 1: 0.7

Scope 2: 0.2

Scope 3: 1.2

Total Emissions: 1.9

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 1.0 tCO2e by 2025. This is a reduction of 50%.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2023 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 0.72. tCO2e, a 36%ge reduction against the 2023 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.

Completed carbon reduction projects to date include:

  • Improving the thermal efficiency of office buildings
  • Installation of green office equipment including lighting and heating to reduce our carbon footprint
  • Use the Three Rs principle of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  Examples include using more eco friendly office supplies; recycling all recyclable materials and waste products and procuring used office furniture
  • Choosing sustainable suppliers who have ISO 14001 certification
  • Use online meetings wherever possible to minimise travel

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Transition to an all electric vehicle fleet
  • Increase the use of renewable energy
  • Eliminate the use of paper and become fully digital
